Invisalign® — What is it?

Invisalign is a popular treatment option for children and adults. It offers patients the opportunity to get the beautiful smile they want without metal braces and brackets. The Haeger Orthodontics team can help you decide if Invisalign a good choice for you.

How does it work?

Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created specifically for you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements Dr. Haeger plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You will wear a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life.

To ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned, you’ll visit Haeger Orthodontics once every 6 – 10 weeks for evaluation. Total treatment time averages 9 – 18 months. The average number of aligners worn during treatment is 18 – 30, but this will also vary from patient to patient.

What are some of the benefits of Invisalign over traditional braces?

Some patients like that their braces are not noticeable, others appreciate that they can eat or drink whatever they want during treatment, because they are removable. Brushing and flossing is an easier process, and the patient also avoids abrasions sometimes caused by metal appliances.
